When I first came across this item I thought how easy it would be to make one myself. With the nearest store to me carrying the jar alone being a 40 mile round trip and costing $10, having to order the humidifier, and trying to hunt down a piece of kiln-dried Spanish ceder and cutting it to fit, I came to my senses and ordered this humidor instead. It has a great seal and works perfectly for cigars up to a 'Churchill'. Great item, great price.
